we have all asked this. i asked it and remeber my mum freezing up. after a bit she said that a man and woman ask god for a baby and he puts it in their womb, she pointed to her stomach. confusion.
then theres the stork tale, a stork, of all birds. why not a dove? they represent purity (like a child). then again, a dove couldnt hold a 10 ounce baby... just plummet to the ground... i used to think of storks as pelicans. the most evident of this old wives tale is in dumbo the elephant. stork bringing babies to the zoo animals, they majically drift next to their mummies, no gunk covered babies... dumbo lies to us.
then theres the 'special hug' story or special 'dance'. i saw this one in brotown. apparently when a man and woman love each other, they do a special hug 'good description. just missing the crucial part which is too x-rated to be put in here.
theres the 'majic elves from daddy work with mummy to make you' (silence) these answers are ridiculous and funny. as well as the 'oh...' look on kids faces.
then theres the hard core truth thats bound to shock the cupcakes and toy soldiers out of them.
theres a girl whos running around shouting mummy where does he come from (pointing at her little brother i assume) poor mum. looks like shes about to get real nervous soon.... were all just sitting here, watching, smiling and feeling extremely sorry for the mom.
she basically has three choices
-the truth
-a lie
-'i dont know honey'
shes finally regained sense of the world, picks up a dr seuss book and says,
'mummy will tell you later'
well thats no good for my blog! i want to see what a real life mother tells her daughter other than what my mum told me.
i just turned and asked mum with a smile. 'yeah mum how are babies made?' she just rolled her eyes.
